Trac is a Stavanger based company specializing in RFID systems and wireless applications for the Oil & Gas industry. One of Trac`s main solutions is the RFID based Drilling Operations Tracking System (DOTS) which has been developed through a Joint Industry research program supported by StatoilHydro, ENI, ConocoPhillips and the Norwegian Research Council`s Demo 2000 program. Sintef and Odfell Drilling have also been participating in the project.
The DOTS system enables Life Cycle Management through proactive maintenance, optimized operations and improved logistics for drill pipes. DOTS utilizes RFID technology, front-edge information technology and advanced scientific software to achieve automatic tracking and quality control of drill pipes through the whole value chain. Real-time drilling measurements combined with manufacturer data and usage history is used to predict remaining life for each individual pipe. DOTS provides well proven EX-certified tags and reader systems for all types of downhole equipment, drilling rigs data capturing and complete software solutions for Drill Pipe Life Cycle Management.
To complement DOTS, Trac has also developed TAM (Trac Asset Management). The TAM system provides well proven, Ex-certified RFID tags for all types of oil and gas equipment, mobile solutions for data capturing and integration to any Enterprise System. By global identification and information sharing TAM enables Asset Management through the whole value chain. TAM offers solutions within manufacturing, warehousing, transport, maintenance and offshore operation.
