Atlantis Deepwater Technology Holding AS (ADTH)

ADTH has developed a buoy (Artificial Seabed System) which enables shallow water rigs to be used in exploration drilling and field developments in deep- and ultra deep water depths.

ADTH, located in Norway, was established in 2000. The company has developed a novel method for exploration drilling and field development drilling in deep and ultra deep waters.

The concept is to use a buoy positioned at a depth of about 250-400 meters below surface, replacing the functions of the real seabed. No equipment remains on the seabed itself, and the buoy is anchored to the seabed using casing. This enables oil companies to reduce costs, improve safety, and expand rigs available when drilling in deep waters.

In May 2009, a full scale trial of the Atlantis System was successfully completed together with China Oilfield Services Ltd in South China Sea.
